New Golfers

Are you new to golf? Not a problem. New golfers are welcome in the EWGA. By joining the Seattle Chapter, you will find a welcoming environment to learn the rules of golf and etiquette so that you can get down to the business of having fun.

The Seattle Chapter offers the following to help out new golfers:

  • Rules, etiquette and handicap seminars
  • New golfer clinics
  • New golfer leagues
  • A mentorship program called Fairway Friends. This program connects more experienced EWGA members with newer golfers for one-on-one help with some of the non-technical issues surrounding the game of golf. For more detail about an overview of the program or more information about the guidelines and a checklist for becoming a Mentor or a Mentee read the PDFs below.
  • An annual Mentor Tournament also known as the "I've-Never-Been-in-a-Tournament Tournament"
  • Tournaments that are 'flighted' such that new golfers compete against other new golfers rather than against more highly skilled golfers
  • The opportunity to play in leagues and weekend events with more experienced golfers who can help teach you rules, etiquette and pace of play guidelines
  • A welcoming environment to get started in golf. You will find plenty of other new golfers in EWGA. Come join us and find out just how fun this game is!
