Rated "Four Stars" by Golf Digest, Sudden Valley has been requested as the site of many major Northwest tournaments including a Washington State Senior Women's Championship, and numerous Pro-Amateur tournaments. Sudden Valley is considered a true masterpiece, stressing finesse and accuracy with water hazards on fourteen of the eighteen holes and some forty-seven bunkers sprinkled throughout the course. Cost is $54. Deadline is May 22. Register here!

June 14-15 Pac NW Chapter Round-up Road Trip to Wild Horse, Pendleton, OR
Join other Seattle members the weekend of June 14 as we hit the road eastward! Our final destination is the Wild Horse Resort and Golf Course in Pendleton, Oregon, where we'll join members of the Portland, Central Oregon, Spokane and Boise chapters for a Saturday fun play (or optional match play) event.

Along the way on Friday we'll stop for a 12:30 pm round of golf at Richland's Columbia Point Golf Course. Friday golf cost is $36; register here.

After golf there, we continue on to Wild Horse Resort in Pendleton, Oregon.
Reservations at the resort are on your own. We do have some rooms blocked out for EWGA on Friday and Saturday nights. They have given us two choices for discounted rooms, one at the original Courtyard Hotel $87.20 for a double queen room, or newly constructed Towers for $108.95 for a double queen, slightly larger room, these prices include tax.  Both of these options are located on site at the Resort. The deadline for block room rates: May 24, 2013. For more information about the hotel rooms, please visit: www.wildhorseresort.com.   BE SURE to identify yourself as EWGA and it's helpful to give the operator the booking ID #5884 to get the special block price 800-654-9453. Guests staying at the Resort Hotel will receive a $50 casino fun pack given out at the hotel check-in. Sign up early as there are only 60 spots for 5 chapters. Saturday's golf event tees off at 8 a.m. with a shotgun start. Wild Horse is a links style golf course that is very open with a few challenging hazards and a spectacular view of the Blue Mountains.  Check out the February 2013 edition of Pacific Northwest Golfer for a feature story on Wild Horse. The Portland Chapter is coordinating registration. $80 cost includes 18 holes of golf, cart, and a private BBQ after the event. More details and registration available here! Deadline for golf registration is May 31, but event is filling up, so don't delay! There will also be optional golf available at additional cost on Sunday, June 16; look for those details when you register for the 15th.

Past Weekend Events

Blue Angels Over Newcastle
The hottest day of the year + a challenging course + The Blue Angels! Temperatures topped 90 degrees on August 5 as we enjoyed the great views that Newcastle's Coal Creek provided. We were also glad to see the beverage cart, and the nice marshall coming around with the cold towels!
And, as Malinda demonstrates below, we found shade wherever we could!

Golf O'Rama to Spokane/Coeur D'Alene with Spokane Chapter
EWGA Seattle joined forces with EWGA Spokane for a fun-filled weekend checking out four iconic courses in the Spokane/Coeur D'Alene area--Circling Raven, Indian Canyon, Coeur D'Alene Resort and its island green (below left), and Hangman Valley. The weekend included not only golf, but social time and great meals in the evening! Another highlight was Cornelia's first eagle ever (below right)!

Mystery Golf Bus Trip to...
a course to be named later! A sell-out group of adventurers boarded a bus Saturday morning, June 16, not knowing where they were headed. But, with mimosas, OJ, breakfast treats, and Tammy's Trivia on the bus, they didn't care! The final destination was a terrific surprise, the new Salish Cliffs course adjacent to Little Creek Casino in Shelton. The course has 600 ft of elevation change and presented a fun challenge. The food and beverages were good, and the golf and food service staff were all terrific.

Though the day was gray,
We all came to play
And had a fun-filled day!

Consensus was that the BACK of the bus was the rowdy crowd!

New Member Mixer at Mount Si

Another sell-out weekend event on April 28 as pleasant temperatures greeted golfers for our first stroke play event of the year. Veteran members greeted our newcomers for a fun day, followed by food and prizes on the course grill's outdoor deck. Veteran members took the honors for low gross (Cindy Merritt) and low net (Tammy Curtis), but new member Jennifer Lambert crushed it on #16 to win long drive. Maggie Mielonen snared both most accurate drive and a closest to the pin (KP), Teresa Potter took the other KP, and Ana Rimkus made the longest putt on #18. New members who stuck around for the post-round socializing also won fabulous door prizes!

Tee-Off Scramble at the Nile
Our 2012 season kicked off at the Nile Golf Center with a 64-person scramble event played in sunny 60-degree April weather! The scramble event was won by the veteran scramble team of Susan Fay, Karen Snepp, Connie Spooner and Dee Sweeney. Snepp also snared the longest drive. Closest to the pin prizes were captured by Brenda Ross and Sandi Mendendorp. It was a fun afternoon to "Smile with Nile!"
