By Lori Hillyard, GolfTEC Why do I play golf? I get this question all the time from non-golfers who just can’t understand what’s so great about the Game of Golf. Now I have a really good response that I will share with you. In a recent study published in the Scandinavian Journal of Medicine & Science in Sports found the death rate for golfers is 40% lower than for other people of the same sex, age and socioeconomic status. The report concluded that playing golf corresponds to an increase in life expectancy of about 5 years. They also found that golfers with the lowest handicaps lived longer than high handicappers.
