By Marcia Bartlett and Cornelia Kromm, League Chairs
It's hard to believe, but league play is just around the corner! Clean off your clubs and get ready for the 2010 league play season. Cornelia Kromm and I, Marcia Bartlett, are the new League Chairs and we are very excited about the upcoming season. We have fantastic league coordinators in place and are ready to get started. The Spring Tee Off is April 3 and we encourage all of you to attend. It's a good chance to catch up with friends and meet some new ones too! Please make a point to introduce yourself to a new member or guest. The golf following the event will be good practice for league play.
We are golfing at the same courses as last year. On Mondays we'll be at Mount Si, Willows and Nile; Tuesdays will be Redmond Ridge and Maplewood; Wednesdays will be Heron Links (Par 3 course) and Fosters; and Thursday's golf is at West Seattle/Jefferson and Bellevue Municipal. We are hoping to add a league at Interbay later in the year. You can sign up now for league play on the EWGA website.
EWGA League Play is a 9-hole league that is played weekly after work and is held at golf courses throughout the Seattle area on various nights of the week. Each league is under the direction of one or more League Coordinators and all league play is pre-arranged in 5-week sessions. The session charge varies depending on the course and its specific greens fees. The Wednesday par-3 league at Heron Links provides the opportunity for new players to gain confidence and experienced players to work on their short game.
I look forward to seeing you at the Tee-Off Brunch on April 3!
I like to end each article with my favorite golf quote. Here's the first:
The reason the pro tells you to keep your head down is so you can't see him laughing. ~ Phyllis Diller
