Education Event on March 15 "How to Create a Handicap"
Ladies, have you ever wanted to establish a handicap but have no idea how to go about it or why you should have one? If so, we have an offer especially for you. Mark your calendars for Monday March 15 from 6-8 p.m. at Swing Doctors in Kirkland. Mike and Joe from Swing Doctors will go over the purpose of having a handicap and the handicap system that is provided free to you as an EWGA member. Having a handicap is a good way to track your progress without having to pay extra dollars and to make the game of golf more enjoyable by enabling players of different abilities to compete on an equitable basis. Please come and join us at Swing Doctors and check out their facility, have a glass of wine and light snacks and enjoy in the fun. The cost for this event is $15.00. Sign up online.
"Breaking 100" Clinic Starting
Attention beginners and intermediate golfers. The Seattle EWGA Chapter is offering an education program called "Breaking 100" which consists of 7 clinics scheduled throughout the greater Seattle area. These clinics are designed golfers who are trying to score around or just above bogey golf on a regular basis. The seven clinics are:
1. Keys to Consistency
2. Equipment Can Work for You
3. Strategies for the First Tee
4. Getting to the Green in Fewer Shots
5. Simple Shots around the Green
6. Making Sand a Day at the Beach
7. Putting Made Simple
The first two clinics "Keys to Consistency" and "Equipment Can Work for You" will be held as one session on Saturday April 10 from 10:00 to 12:00 at Puetz Golf Center located on Aurora. The cost for this event is $60. The instructor for this clinic is our own EWGA member and golf professional Val Patrick. This two-hour session will include how to hold the club (grip), understanding good setup and posture, and aligning the clubface and body to the target and understanding pre-shot routines. Val will also discuss the basics of choosing clubs and understanding the variables available in clubs (such as shafts, weight, length, lie) and how to choose clubs that are for you. And, with the Puetz Golf Center adjacent to its golf store, you can immediately apply what you learn. Registration is now available online.
Questions can be directed to education@ewgaseattle.org or chat with us at the Spring Tee-off.
More information to follow in the coming months on the other 5 clinics.
