Before You Know It – Chapter Championship Is Just Around the Corner
|

By Tricia Deering, Championship Director
Before you know it, July 20 will be here — the deadline for registering for the EWGA Seattle’s Chapter Championship. This year, the Chapter Championship, considered the Chapter’s Premier Event, will be held on July 31 at the Gold Mountain Golf Course in Bremerton, Washington.
2010 is the 15th Anniversary of the EWGA Championship. As a member of EWGA, we would like to encourage you to take advantage of the opportunity to participate in the largest female amateur competition in the world. The EWGA Championship starts with the local Chapter Championship, progresses to a Regional (Northwest) Semi-finals, and then to the 2010 National Championship.
The Championship program gives you an opportunity to participate in competitive golf. You will be paired with and compete against women who are in the same handicap bracket as you are. It gives you the opportunity to become more familiar with the rules of golf. You’ll play really great golf courses, and share the experience with women who share your passion for the game.
You also have the opportunity to compete as a group (Scramble Team) or as an individual (Stroke Play).
Playing competitive golf with other women in the same handicap/ability range makes the experience more enjoyable since you will be on a level playing field with the women you are playing with. It’s fun, it’s exciting, and you learn a lot about yourself, your golf game, and the overall game of golf.
Here are the specifics about the event:
- The Championship is Saturday, July 31, at Gold Mountain Golf Club in Bremerton, Washington
- Tee times begin at 10:00 a.m. However, there will be a Rules meeting at 8:30 a.m., and we recommend that all players attend the meeting
- Your registration will include range balls
- There will be an Awards Banquet immediately following the tournament
- There will be a “Practice Round” scheduled at Gold Mountain on Sunday, July 25. You can register for this through the Events section of the EWGA Seattle Website.
Registration information was sent out the week of June 1, so if you are a EWGA Seattle member and did not receive your packet, please send an e-mail to championship@ewgaseattle.org and the information will be emailed to you. Registration information is also available on the Seattle Chapter website.
