13th Annual Seattle Chapter Championship a Success!

By Janet Young Beautiful clear blue skies and warm temperatures greeted 44 competitors on Saturday, July 12 for the annual Chapter Championship. There were 24 Stroke Play competitors and five Scramble Teams ready to take on The Golf Course at Echo Falls. Long a part of the Seattle Chapter’s activities, Echo Falls played tough but fair. The staff was welcoming and happy to have us back for this event. The first group teed off at 9 am with 10 additional groups following. The field included players who have been a part of the Championship for many years and plenty of new competitors. The mix was wonderful and the camaraderie evident as the cheers were loud when each winner was announced. This year, for the first time, we had our Overall Chapter Champion come from a flight other than the lowest one. Helen Lally played in the 2nd flight and shot an 89 to capture the title. With the change in handicap divisions, we didn’t have anyone in the Championship flight, but each of the other four flights was represented. Seattle will have a terrific bunch representing our Chapter at the Semi-Final event in Tumwater, WA on the 23rd of August.
