Membership FAQ

Here are answers to the most common questions that we get from prospective Seattle Chapter members. If your question about membership is not answered here or elsewhere on the site, contact the Membership Chair with your question.

How much does it cost to join?

Choose the EWGA Membership that works for you:

Executive

Offers you exclusive opportunities to network with other executive women across the Association. Executive-level members have the opportunity to participate in exclusive online discussion groups and attend invitation-only golf events with VIPs at five-star golf resorts during the year. $325.00 to join or $300 to renew

Classic

Offers a value conscious membership benefit package for those who may just want to try golf or get to know the EWGA better but still includes opportunities to reap the educational, play and enjoyment of membership in the EWGA. $125.00 to join and $100.00 to renew

Are there other costs associated with being a member?

As you would expect, each event that you choose to participate in has a fee associated with it. Fees are commensurate with what you'd expect to pay if you went to the course as an individual, with perhaps a few dollars added for a prize fund or to cover the course's group fees. Occasionally the organization receives discounted greens fees for our larger events.

Do I have to be an 'executive' to join?

No. While EWGA is geared toward career-minded women golfers, being an 'executive' is certainly not a requirement for membership. While most of our members have professional careers of various sorts, others are retired or are homemakers.

Are new golfers welcome?

Absolutely. EWGA Seattle seeks to create a welcoming, non-intimidating environment for women new to golf to learn the game. Formal and informal opportunities are provided for you to learn golf skills, etiquette, and rules.

What are the benefits of becoming a member?

Member benefits range from product and services discounts to great networking opportunities to opportunities for new friendships. Please see our Member Benefits page for more information.

Can I join any time of the year?

Yes, membership applications are accepted throughout the year even though the season runs from primarily March until November. Annual renewal of your membership is set at the end of the month in which you joined.

Do I have to participate in a certain number of events each year?

No. The events and leagues are what make EWGA, so we hope that you will be an active member, but you are welcome to participate in as many or as few events as you like.

What happens after I join?

Once your application is processed, you will be contacted by someone on the committee about attending our recommended Member Orientation Meetings These are hosted at the homes of our members and are held at regular intervals throughout the year. These New Member Orientations go into more specific detail about the organization and the Seattle Chapter and its events. You’ll have a chance to ask questions about the Chapter, volunteer opportunities, even golf rules and etiquette. New Member Orientations are also a great opportunity to meet some current and new members.

Once a member, you will start receiving all EWGA member materials, including email notification of the online monthly Chapter newsletter and event entry forms.

Do I need to own my own golfing equipment to join?

Technically no, but all courses require you to have your own assigned clubs and golf bag while playing. Renting them from the course can get expensive. If you want to join, but don't want to make an expensive investment in clubs, starter sets or used sets of golf clubs can be bought for reasonable prices.

Do members have to maintain a USGA handicap?

No. You are not required to maintain a USGA handicap to become a member. An official handicap, however, is required to participate in the EWGA Championship Series and a few the competitive Seattle Chapter events.

We do think maintaining a handicap is a great idea, as it is a great way to allow you to gauge your progress with your golf skills and to level the playing field when playing with golfers of other skill levels. You may maintain your handicap through the new EWGA Golf Intelligence System, coordinated by the Association and the local Chapter. There is no additional cost for this service. If you don't know what a handicap is or how to get one, visit our
Establishing a Handicap page for more information.

I'm not sure I want to join, can I try it out?

You bet! Guests are welcome at most events, usually on a space available basis, with members receiving priority. Guests are not eligible to participate in competitive EWGA tournaments such as the Chapter Championship, but fun-play alternatives are often provided at these types of events. A prospective member may participate as a guest at both weekend or league events (maximum two guest visits per season). Contact the coordinator for the particular event if you are interested in joining as a guest.

I'm a current member. How do I renew my membership?

Before your membership expires, you will receive a renewal notice via email from the Association. At that time, you can renew via mail, fax or online per the instructions in your renewal mailing. A grace period allows you to receive the renewal discount for three months beyond your renewal date. During the grace period you will not have access to Members Only services or the Golf Life Management System handicap service, and your new membership year will begin on the date that the previous year expired.

I'm a current member. How do I update my personal information?

You may update your personal information by going to EWGA.com and accessing the Members Only section and following the instructions.
