2008 Championship Registration Form
Started in 1995, the EWGA Championship is the premiere golf event for the organization. With approximately
2200 participants Association-wide each year, it is one of the largest women's amateur tournaments in
the world!
The EWGA Championship consists of a progressive series of three tournaments that occur over the course
of the golf season. The series begins with local Chapter Championships, progresses to the
Semi-Finals conducted at the District level, and culminates in the Championship Finals
conducted at the Association level. Members may compete in either an individual stroke play format or as part of a four person scramble team.
What makes this series of events even more unique is that participants of all skill levels can participate.
Most amateur tournaments of this scale limit participation to golfers with a lower handicap. In keeping
with the inclusive environment of the EWGA, members with a handicap index of all levels may play in the
EWGA Championship Series and compete against players of similar skill levels. The tournament is run
according to USGA guidelines, while still conducted in fun, friendship, and sportsmanship; the core values
of the EWGA.
The EWGA Championship is truly a unique event in the golf world. We hope you take advantage of the
opportunity to participate and have fun in your Seattle Chapter Championship this year. You never know;
you could wind up the Chapter, District, or even Association Champion!
EWGA Championship Formats of Play
You may enter the EWGA Championship Tournament under one of two formats of play.
Individual Stroke Play
Players are flighted as they enter the tournament based on their USGA Handicap Index.
You compete only against those in your flight. Effective with the 2008 competition, the flights are as follows:
-
Championship Flight 0.0. - 8.0
-
First
Flight 8.1 - 16.0
-
Second
Flight 16.1 - 24.0
-
Third
Flight 24.1 - 32.0
-
Fourth
Flight 32.1 - 40.4
First place low gross and low net Chapter and District winners from each flight advance on to the next level of the EWGA Championship.
Four Person Team Scramble
This increasingly popular format allows you to play in the Championship as a four person team. Team member's handicaps are
weighted in a way that allow higher skilled teams to compete evenly against lower skilled teams. The first place low net
team advances to the next level of play. Scramble play is a great deal of fun, so start forming your team early! The Scramble
handicaps break down as follows:
| Team Member Handicap | Computation Factor |
| 5.0 or Less | +3 |
| 5.1 - 13.0 | +2 |
| 13.1 - 20.0 | +1 |
| 20.1 - 27.0 | 0 |
| 27.1 - 33.0 | -1 |
| 33.1 - UP | -2 |
Assign the appropriate Computation Factor to each team member's individual Handicap Index. Add the four Computation Factors together to determine the cramble Team Handicap. The total Team Handicap must not be more than +4 or less than –4. Teams with Team Handicaps that fall outside the total team handicap range will not be eligible to compete. Effective 2008, only one team member may have a USGA Handicap of 13.0 or less.

The Pacific Northwest Championship serves as our Semi-final event for the EWGA Championship.
The event location changes from year-to-year and is held at quality venues throughout the Northwest
region. This is also an 18-hole event, with Scramble Team and Individual Stroke Play winners moving on
to the EWGA Championship Finals in September.
In 2008, the Pacific Northwest District Semi-Final will be held on August 23.
While this is only an 18-hole event, many members choose to make a weekend out of it, arriving early for a practice
round or to play one of the other fine courses in the area. An awards banquet follows play.
